Chris hid his surprise, he'd never seen her move so fast before. He could practically taste her fear. The air was charged with tension, energizing him. The delight of finding a weakness in the girl tugged the corners of his lips up into a slow, calculating smile.

Though he had spent only a short time with Mary, her need to dominate her situation, and her need to steer the conversation had made it clear that she needed to be in control. Not to mention that the crazy bird and her friend had gone out hunting vampires directly after he'd let her go. Hunting for him, maybe. The thought of it made him smile even wider, baring his fangs in the process.

Suddenly Mary sprung up from the other side of the bed. Her arm was drawn back. Chris' smile turned to a look of confusion as she brought her arm forward. Water streamed from her hand, spraying Chris in the face.

Mary wore a proud smile which quickly faded as Chris regained his composure. He looked at the small glass bottle in Mary's hand, which was emblazoned with a silver cross.

Chris: "Holy water?!"

Mary frowned, looked at the bottle, then back up at Chris, who's face was not burning and blistering, but was instead contorted in laughter. She looked back at the empty bottle, and finally chucked it at his head head. It hit him square in the nose.

Chris: "Bloody HELL!"

Mary smirked for a moment before dropping quickly back to her knees on the other side of the bed. Chris crossed the room in two steps over the bed, grabbed Mary and throwing her agaist the wall. She had been going for another, presumably more effective weapon from a sad little arsenal beneath the bed, but he got ahold of her before she could grab anything. He managed to only get hit in the face twice, but the second time was on the nose again and he growled in pain.

Chris:"ENOUGH!"

He grabbed her by the shoulders and pinned her tightly against the wall. Her arms flailed wildly, managing to connect with his flesh a few times but doing no damage.

Chris: "I'm counting to ten, and I suggest you do the same."

His voice was quiet but firm and he breathed in evenly, slowly, calming his own annoyance. It would be all too easy to snap the girl's neck to still her flailing about like a fish out of water. Chris knew his own strength and knew he would be signing his own death warrant if he let his anger get the better of him. Mary wasn't to be killed. Yet. Finally, her struggling abated, and he felt the fight go out of her.

Chris: "That's better, then."

His nose still stung and he turned his head to wipe away another drop of blood on his shirt. When his eyes met Mary's, he saw them filled with a quiet rage that reflected his own. There was no fear left in them, and for a moment it made Chris a little nervous. Logically, he knew he had nothing to worry about, but her thoughts were all but tangible: If you hurt me, even if you kill me, I will hunt you down and I will make you pay. Even if it takes eternity. I won't forget.

It was downright spooky. Chris tightened his grip ever so slightly, shaking off this feeling he was getting all to used to. First Andy, and now this pathetic little girl who probably couldn't even gut a fish, let alone a vampire. Yet here he was, forcing himself to maintain eye contact. Finally, she blinked, and the wrath in her eyes disappeared. He wasn't quite sure whether it was a win for him or a win for her. He'd had her - when she first awoke, he'd had her then. But she had quickly taken control of the situation and steered its course, despite the fact that she was ultimately powerless. Though she was at his mercy now, his actions were now merely a reaction to hers, and that seemed to have dissipated her fear.

Now it was his move, but she was numb to him. He had been there too long and he had no more surprises. Best to leave her waiting for the other shoe to drop. He transferred her wrists to one hand, and with the other ran his finger down her throat and then across her shoulder, pulling the strap of her nightgown off the shoulder. He felt her stiffen, and smiled as her eyes became glassy. There - that was a reaction. He leaned down, grazing her neck with his teeth.

Chris:"Don't you ever forget, love, I know where you sleep."

And then with one swift movement he was gone, out the window, dropping to the ground, disappearing into the dark of a moonless night.
