Chris: “I need to step out for a while. I'm leaving the glock with you; if she tries to escape, shoot to maim. If anything goes wrong, I'm holding you personally responsible."
Ace: “You’re a buffoon, Peterson.”
Chris: “Yeah? Which one of us is running this show?”

Mary: "Wow, big gun. Trying to make up for something, are we?"
Chris: "I’d gladly prove I’m not."
Mary: “Maybe some other time.”
Chris: "Rest up, pet. I'll be back in just a bit to play with you some more.”
Mary: “I can hardly stand the anticipation.”
Chris: “Oh believe me, neither can I. I’m leaving for your own good, you know. Gotta say, your blood’s like fire in my veins right now, and it’s about all I can do to keep from draining you dry.”
Mary: “Charming.”

Chris: “If you're not good while I'm away, that little love-bite I gave you earlier will seem like a pin prick."
Mary: “You’re so tough, threatening someone you’ve got locked up behind bars.”
Chris: “Your bluffing isn’t working, love. I can hear your heart pounding from here; you’re plenty scared.”
Mary: “Asshole.”

Peterson’s smile widened.

Chris: "Watch her, Reynolds; she's a wild one!"

Mary quietly watched Peterson leaving, her mind racing. She was almost positive that the door to her cell was unlocked, and now she was left with only one captor instead of two. She was so caught up in trying to plan how to incapacitate the one named Reynolds, she didn’t even notice he’d gotten up from the table.

Ace: “Don’t go anywhere.”
Mary: “What? Hey!”
Ace: “What?”

She felt a mounting panic, and cursed for bringing more attention to herself. If she’d been thinking, she’d have just let him leave without a word. With hardly a pause, she shifted into bluffing mode.

Mary: “You’re not going to just leave me here, are you?”
Ace: “I really don’t think you need a babysitter, not with all the iron bars around you. I’ll be back before you know it.”
Mary: “What if I have to… you know…”
Ace: “You’ve got a bucket; you’ll be fine.”

She held her breath as Reynolds turned away from her and went out the front door. She didn’t release it until she heard the sound of a car starting, then fading to nothing as it drove off.
