Glass: "Houston, we have a problem."
Jade rolled her eyes and shook her head.

Jade: "What NOW?"
Glass: "It's mutated."
Jade: "So? It's been mutating all along."
Glass: "This is significant. Mnemosyne is airborne."

Jade: "What?"
Xero: "I told you that you should've used mathematical models first."
Jade: "We're not the fucking CDC. So we get a few unexpected results in the vampire population - no big loss."
Jade smiled suddenly.

Jade: "In fact, this is excellent. We'll need to contain the virus, of course, but Mr. Stone will be pleased if Mnemosyne infects the other vampires in his little band - assuming they are both vampires. Xero - what is the probability that our sample has followed a similar mutation pattern as the virus we infected Tristan Payne with?"

Xero: "Highly probable. Although our sample has thus far killed its hosts, we have been harvesting the virus from one host to place in another. It's unlikely there will be any significant changes in its evolutionary path, especially considering it has become less devastating as it's been mutating. One of our current subjects is still alive after 72 h... h...."
Xero sneezed violently.
Xero: "...hours."

Glass jumped out of his chair so quickly he sent it spinning backwards until it hit the wall. Before she knew what had happened, Glass had stuck a needle into Jade's arm and drawn a sample of blood.
Jade: "What the hell?!"
Glass: "You've been around the test subjects the most."
Jade: "So?"

Glass didn't answer. He put a drop of the blood on a slide and peered into the microscope.
Glass: "Mnemosyne is not only airborne, it is also contagious to humans." |
