</td>

James blinked once and found himself standing alone on the quiet dance floor of the Xenon. Despite the silence, he didn't hear Kat walk up behind him and jumped when he felt her hand on his arm.

Kat: "It's just us again. Finally."
James: "What did you do to me? Where are we?"
Kat: "There's nothing left here. Come with me."

James swayed ever so slightly on his feet, feeling mildly light headed. How long had it been since he'd last fed? He couldn't remember, and the harder he tried to concentrate the less he could focus his thoughts. Within seconds he couldn't even remember what it was he'd been trying to remember. He looked at Kat and gave her a confused half-smile.

James: "I'm sorry, what were we talking about?"
Kat: "I need you to come with me."

She sounded tired and slightly annoyed, frustrated by having to explain a simple premise for the umpteenth time. It was usually much easier than this, though James had already been with her far longer than any of the others.

James: "Did you do this to me? Bring me here?"
Kat: "James…"
James: "Why?"

Kat: "I've been stuck here alone for god knows how long. I don't understand how or why. Do you know what it's like? To be completely alone with only your own thoughts, your own laws, your own rules for everything, up to and including physics?"
James: "K-"
Kat: "Of course you don't. I can't stay here alone any longer. If I do, I don't know what I'll become. I think this must be how gods are born, and let me tell you, that really does explain the state of the earth."

James felt a growing unease and tried to cover it with a reassuring smile. Instead, he felt his face twist into a sort of half-snarl. This only managed to add to his unease, and he took a half-step away from Kat, hoping she didn't notice either reaction. To his relief, she continued without pause.

Kat: "I don't know how, but I learned how to bring people here. Real people, not the ones I created. They never stay long, but you can. Because of what you are."
James: "And what am I?"

Kat sighed heavily and rolled her eyes.

Kat: "You're a vampire. Immortal. Now come on, we have to go."
James: "Where are we going?"
Kat: "Back to my place."

James looked at her, puzzled. Kat looked him up and down, then tilted her head back once again, exposing the delicate skin on her neck. James hesitated, feeling the hunger gnawing inside him. He felt his canines extending on their own accord, regardless of his own misgivings.

James: "Kat… please don't… I can't- I won't do that to you."
Kat: "You're hungry, and hello, we're dreaming. Just do it."
James: "I'll be fine, I can go a very long time without feeding."

James watched in confusion as Kat suddenly stiffened, as if listening to some far off sound. She looked around, slightly panicked for a moment, before turning her attention back to James. His confusion turned to horror as she clawed at her throat, cutting the flesh and leaving a trail of scarlet blood that trickled from the wound in a thin ribbon. In the blink of an eye James was reaching out to Kat, the pull of the hunger taking him over.
