Emily turned around in a circle, searching intently for the fog machine as Elise continued her attempts to inspire what remained of This Velvet Oblivion. Mary had been certain Elise would burst a major artery when Tristan had suddenly become 'unavailable' for the rest of the shoot, but she had swiftly directed her focus to Markus and James alone. Chris had also disappeared, and Lucy was nowhere to be found. The poor girl had probably had a nervous breakdown by now.

Emily: "Hey, is that the effects guy?"
Mary: "No, that's the caterer."
Emily: "Why is he in costume?"
Mary: "Elise had a vision. She had the effects guy dressed up as a raver-astronaut."

Mary watched Elise intently. She started to get a bad feeling - whatever the crazed director was up to, it was quickly coming to a head. Elise was flushed with excitement, her hair damp with perspiration. But Mary had to give her credit - although individually the details were downright bizarre, the footage she was getting was pretty amazing.

Mary: "What's wrong?"
Emily: "There is no fog machine."
Mary: "What? There must be, I mean, look around."

Suddenly Elise let out a piercing scream, went up in a spark of blue flame and disappeared into a puff of smoke right before their eyes. The set became instantly quiet. Mary and Emily stared with their mouths hanging open before turning to each other.

Andy: "Well that was somewhat unexpected"

Out of the silence came the pounding of footsteps, and Lucy approached the spot where Elise had been standing. There was nothing left of her, not even ashes. Lucy bent down to pick up the necklace that had been around Elise's neck.

James: "Ummm… should we call 911?"
Emily: "Hey Mary? I don't think Elise was the one behind the vacuuming thing."

Emily nodded toward Lucy, who had taken off the necklace she'd been wearing. It was identical to the one Elise had worn. Lucy started to push them together, back to back.

Mary: "JAMES! GET HER!"

James looked at Mary, startled.

Mary: "TACKLE HER!"
Emily: "NOW!"

James jumped across the stage and tackled Lucy on pure faith. The necklaces flew out of her hands in opposite directions. Lucy scrambled to get away from James and crawled across the floor, going after the necklace that was nearest to her. The other necklace slid to a halt directly in front of Mary and Emily.

Emily: "Get it!"
Mary: "Like hell! It just made someone spontaneously combust!"
Emily: "Want me to get the fire extinguisher?"

Mary rolled her eyes. Emily sighed, lifted one foot, and stomped on the amulet. Lucy watched with horror as it shattered; the fog in the room seemed to dissipate around everyone as if it was being burned off by the heat from their bodies.
