Jade: "Xero, are you sure this is going to be safe? Erebus has escaped before, in case you forgot."
Xero: "Look at him- he's been listless like that for months now. I don't think there's anything to worry about. Besides, didn't Glass already say that there was too much risk involved in another subjugation spell?"

Glass: "I never said that physical restraints were a bad idea, though."
Jade: "Especially since Mr. Stone is here today."
Glass: "You're getting reckless."
Xero: "Nonsense. Now help me get him over to the exam table."

Glass exchanged a concerned look with Jade before joining Xero in front of Erebus' holding cell. Jade entered the lock-release code into the computer hesitantly, hovering for a second before entering the last number. As the doors opened with a light swishing sound, Glass & Xero moved quickly to take hold of Erebus.

Xero & Glass maneuvered Erebus onto an exam table with deceptive ease. Though he seemed to be nearly catatonic, Glass thought he saw a flicker of something in his eyes and felt suddenly very uneasy. He'd seen his cats get the same look before readying themselves to attack a stray spider or piece of string.

Jade: "I really don't like this."
Xero: "So you've already said several times. Can you grab that tray of instruments over there for me?"

Glass: "Do what you have to do quickly- I'm getting a bad feeling about this."
Xero: "You guys seriously need to relax."

He leaned over and chose a syringe from the tray Jade had brought him before retreating to the far side of the lab. Glass held his breath as Xero plunged the needled into a vein and drew a blood sample. Much to his surprise, Erebus didn't even flinch, and he felt himself exhaling in relief.
Xero took the sample and made his way over to a workstation where he placed a few droplets of blood on a slide before transferring the remainder to a storage tube.

Glass: "Are you ready for me to help you put him back now?"
Xero: "Nah… leave him out. I have some more samples to collect and a couple of tests to run. Don't you have your own work to do?"
Glass could only shake his head in disdain before joining his sister.
