</td>

Emily continued to stare blankly ahead, vaguely aware of the sound of voices and the pulse of music floating up from the club below them. James and Markus were talking, but their exact words were lost to her. In that moment she felt consumed by loneliness, swallowed whole by a feeling of letting so many things slip away.

James: "What do you think, punkin?"

Emily: "Hmmm? About what?"
James: "Never mind, it's really too complicated to try explaining from the beginning."
Emily: "Oh. Sorry."

Markus: "Are you ok? You really don't seem yourself tonight."
Emily: "I'm just tired I guess. What time is it?"
James: "Coming up on 2am, no wonder you're tired."

Andy: "I hope you're not too tired to see me."

Emily nearly leapt from where she was sitting at the sound of Andy's voice. She felt her earlier loneliness fade away as Andy gathered her up in his arms, holding her tightly until she pulled away.

Emily: "I thought you were staying in Seattle tonight!"
Andy: "The meetings finished earlier than I thought, so I figured I'd just come back here.

Andy: "Sorry I missed the show tonight, guys. How'd it go?"
Markus: "It was great, actually. Good crowd tonight."

Andy: "Tristan left already?"
James: "Yeah, he went home not long after the show. In fact, we're all about to head out I think. Care to join us for Godzilla Fest '06?"
Andy: "I think we'll pass this time. I do appreciate the gesture, though."
James: "Consider it an open invitation."

Emily: "You guys were great tonight. I can't wait to see another show."
Markus: "It wouldn't be the same without you. Hey, tell Mary we miss her."
Emily: "Yeah, ok."

James: "Have a good night, punkin."

James smiled and winked, and Emily couldn't help but blush deeply. She mumbled a vague response before following Andy down the stairs and out of the near-empty club.

The night air was brisk but not overly cold as Emily made her way through the parking lot with Andy. A light breeze played briefly with wisps of her hair before moving on to dance in the bare branches of the trees that lined the road way. They were quickly at their cars, the lot otherwise almost deserted.

Emily: "I'm so happy to see you tonight. I missed you so much."
Andy: "I missed you, too. Listen, I have a little gift for you that I picked up last week. I can give it to you here, or we can go back to my place- it's up to you. If you're too tired I completely understand."

Emily: "I'm not too tired to spend time with you, Andy."
Andy: "Then why don't you follow me home? I don't need to be in the office until the afternoon, so you can stay as long as you want."
Emily: "That sounds fantastic."
