The canvas and paint were mocking Mary- she knew for a fact that they must have been conspiring against her while she was a way. She'd spent the last hour bringing the paint towards the canvas only to pull the brush back at the last second, as if there were an invisible force field keeping the two from coming in contact with each other. The other four paintings had been a struggle, but this was getting ridiculous.
Andy: "Mary, hello. How are things going up here?"
Mary: "You checking up on me? Don't worry, I'll get your series done. I'm just having a bit of trouble with the last one."
Andy: "I'm sure you'll find your muse soon enough. The sooner, the better, though."
Mary: "Right. Keep your pants on, I'm doing the best I can."
Andy raised an eyebrow while Mary stared at him for a split second before reconsidering her approach.
Mary: "I mean, what with all the spooktacular crap that's been going on. I need to take a break, but I'll be back to finish up later."
Andy: "Good, good. Have a late lunch, take all the time you need - I'm sure you'll have something for me to ship to the gallery on Monday."
Mary: "Aye, aye, Captain."
Andy smiled hesitantly at her before turning to leave. Mary rolled her eyes at his back as he walked away, waiting a few minutes to make sure he'd cleared the building before going out herself. On her way out she'd planned on checking in with Emily but found her talking with a client. She looked so happy and excited- Mary smiled to herself and decided not to disturb her. |
