![]() Mary: "This is so fucked up." Tristan: "You're telling me." Mary: "What now?" Tristan: "I have no idea. But I think the mall has outlived its usefulness, and I'd like to avoid another run-in with Tim." Mary: "You'd like to avoid another run-in with him…" Tristan walked to one of the stalls and returned with a wad of toilet paper which he held against Mary's neck, applying pressure to stop the bleeding. She shook her head slowly, reaching toward but not touching her wounds.
She jerked her head toward the ceiling.
Mary: "Which means something worse can happen down here. And if I die, if the door I've left open closes, then it's closed for Emily too." Mary nodded, but still looked uncertain.
Tristan sighed and let his forehead fall into his hand.
Mary pointed toward a door behind Tristan, with a glowing red 'Exit' sign posted above it.
The door opened up to the outside. It appeared to be late afternoon. The sun was low in the sky, and Tristan flinched before realizing that the sunlight couldn't hurt him here.
Stephanie threw back her head and laughed.
A large black limo pulled up beside them. The woman opened a door and gestured inside. Tristan took Mary's hand and began walking away.
Mary refused to be moved from her spot. The woman was intriguing. She didn't quite fit in with the rest of the surroundings. Mary: "Tristan, don't be rude." She turned back to the woman and smiled.
Stephanie smiled and then disappeared into the limo. Mary looked back at Tristan, who shrugged at her before crawling into the limo behind her.
