Andy was fairly certain he didn't want to find out what the thing coming across his front lawn was. He was mostly positive it wasn't selling Girl Scout cookies, though the possibility of it selling cookies made from Girl Scouts wasn't completely ruled out. Regardless, he knew for a fact that meeting up with the creature hastily making its way toward him would be a Very Bad Thing.

He bolted away from the windows, hoping whatever it was hadn't seen him. He was quickly opening various doors in order to make it to the innermost closet in his house where he kept a startlingly wide variety of weapons. He quickly passed up the bulkier swords and crossbows; while his inner-geek salivated at the prospect of actually using any of them, his more sensible side realized he needed something a little more mundane but infinitely more deadly. He pulled out several guns, double-checking they were actually loaded before cautiously emerging into the bedroom.

He could neither see nor hear the creature he'd been so sure was right behind him. The silence was more than unnerving, causing his imagination to invent various sounds where there weren't any. He took a few tentative steps toward the bedroom door, pushing it open slightly to check the hallway.

When the front door exploded, he nearly leapt out of his skin. The sound seemed to ring through the house for an unnatural amount of time, each piece of glass resonating as it bounced off the hardwood floors. Andy stood frozen staring at the vaguely female creature crouched just inside his house, its long wings unfurling as it stood up.

Its eyes seemed to burn from within, and as it smiled at him it exposed lengthy canines. Andy cursed himself for not grabbing a stake as well as the guns, wondering briefly if he had a chance in hell of making it back to his weapons closet to get one. He quickly dismissed the idea as the creature before him brushed remnants of glass from its body before taking a step forward. When it spoke, its voice was deep and gravely and made Andy cough in an unconscious attempt to clear its throat.

Keres: "Andrew William Botzcowski?"
Andy: "Actually, no. Seems you've got the wrong house. Sorry."

For a split second the creature looked utterly stunned. It blinked humorously a few times before narrowing its gaze on Andy. He found himself hoping whatever this thing was, it would be first and foremost stupid.

Ker: "I am Ker, Hound of Hades, servant of the Furies. I have been sent to bring you into the Underworld to be judged for your crimes."
Andy: "Judged for crimes? What crimes?"
Ker: "You're charged with murder, tax evasion, crimes against humanity, and plotting to change the natural order of the universe."

Andy: "I always pay my taxes."

Ker: "The Furies will decide your fate."
Andy: "Look! It's Elvis!"

The creature was momentarily distracted, giving Andy the opening he'd been hoping for. He scurried from the room as quickly as he could manage, running through the hallways in a chaotic motion in hopes of confusing his pursuer. Within seconds he felt its hot breath on his neck and dropped to the floor, sending the creature crashing into a wall.

Andy wasted no time doubling back on his tracks, ducking out the back door of his house and dropping behind a small stand of trees. He was exhausted already, blood beginning to ooze again through the cotton gauze wrapped around both his hands. He could only afford to rest for a few minutes, enough time to catch his breath and get ready to go out with guns blazing.
