Anthony: "Are you two leaving?"
Mary: "Yes, apparently we're too stuffed to eat dessert."
Anthony: "Come on. I'll walk you out."

On their way to the door, Anthony stopped at the bar and picked up two take-out boxes. Once they were in the parking lot, he looked around conspiratorially and handed one box to each of them.

Emily: "What's this?"
Anthony: "Your desserts. I asked the waiter to box them up and hold them at the bar."

Mary and Emily grinned first at Anthony and then at each other.

Emily: "Thanks!"
Anthony: "My pleasure."
Emily: "See you tomorrow!"

Emily turned and opened the passenger door as Mary lingered for a moment.

Mary: "That was really sweet of you, thank you."
Anthony: "Any time."
Mary: "Would you like to have dinner with me next weekend?"
Anthony: "Er, what?"

Mary: "Dinner. You and me. Like… a date."
Anthony: "Oh. Mary, um, well, you were a patient of mine."
Mary: "I'm not anymore."
Anthony: "I understand, but I don't think it's a very good idea."
Mary: "Why not?"

Anthony: "Well, we're in very different places in our lives right now. You've gone through a lot this year, and I don't think it would be wise to jump into a relationship."
Mary: "Who said anything about a relationship? It's just a dinner date."
Anthony: "Dates tend to lead to a relationship. Otherwise they lead to disaster. Sometimes both. Have you been seeing Dr. Merriman like I suggested?"
Mary: "The shrink? Oh my god. You think I'm crazy."
Anthony: "No! No, it's not that. It's just…"

Mary waited impatiently for Anthony to finish his sentence.

Anthony: "This is where you're supposed to stop me, say it's okay, you understand. Then you storm off, and then every time we see each other there's awkward conversations preceded by awkward silence."
Mary: "So you do think I'm crazy."
Anthony: "I'll level with you, Mary. I don't think you're entirely stable. Not right now, anyway. You're a wonderful, bright, funny and attractive woman. But a few months ago you were dead by your own hand in a very bizarre manner. I realize that losing Emily, temporarily, at least, was traumatic. But I think you still have a long road of recovery in front of you."

Mary frowned, unsure of how to respond. The doctor did have a point, but she couldn't exactly tell him all the details about what happened and why she and Emily had done what they did.

Mary: "No, I don't. But that's okay. I'll see you at the wedding."

Emily: "What took you so long?"
Mary: "I asked him out."
Emily: "You what? I didn't even know you liked him!"
Mary: "I didn't either. But he's nice, right?"
Emily: "Sure, he seems great."

Mary: "And it's about time I started trying to build real relationships instead of the bizarre non-relationships I keep ending up in."
Emily: "Good for you. What did he say?"
Mary: "He said no."
Emily: "Really? Oh well. He's probably just an evil mastermind pretending to be the nicest guy in the world."

Mary: "Thanks Em. You always know just what to say."
Emily: "That's my job. So, are we investigating tonight?"

Mary: "Definitely. I tried to get a look around while we were at the Church, but Laura wouldn't let anyone out of her sight for five seconds."
Emily: "I know, she wouldn't even let me go to the bathroom!"
Mary: "Okay. I'll drop you off at the reception hall then check out the church. I'll call you if I find anything really strange, otherwise I'll just pick you up at 3:00 in front of the hotel."
Emily: "Sounds like a plan."

Do you mind if I ask what happened to Mary's head in the first picture?
I love how Emily looks in that picture, by the way.

It's not her head, it's the hair--and I do know that for a fact, because I used to have that download. It's part of a strange stretching animation "error" that's inherent to the mesh. While not exactly an error per se, as there is nothing wrong with the mesh, the animation still ends up weird. Some of the meshes on the site she got it from (and I kinda know where it is....sorta) do that. They're being fixed, though, so the mesh stretches in a more nautral, less stereotypically computerized way. They look a lot better.

Sorry, but I can't remember the name of the site for the life of me. But yeah, Mary's head isn't weird-it's just her hair stretching all funny. ^.^

She.

And my must Dr. Anthony Sutherland be so damned level-headed? Mary so needs a relationship with someone who is not a rapist, a serial cheater, undead, or undead and as unstable in his own special way as she is. Dr. Sutherland . . . I hope he doesn't get all blown up.

Dear lord, it's a conversation, not a thesis, real people don't always speak with perfect grammar, and if they did, well, I'd have to stick a badger in them.

Any who, great update as usual, I've loved it so far.

It's okay! [livejournal.com profile] frenchified is the official Deception Pass proof reader. We were just doing rewrites into the eleventh hour and didn't have time to shoot the ep over to her behind the scenes this time around. :)

good for the ole' doc though. Much as I think they'd make a great couple, I'd have lost respect for his sense and intelligence if he'd leapt at the chance to date a chick he thought tried to off herself a few months ago.
